Flange Type Guide

Choose the flange structure first, then open the standard page for drawings, facing, pressure rating and inquiry details.

What is a pipe flange?

A pipe flange is a disc, collar or ring attached to pipe for support, line closure or connection with valves, fittings and equipment. Flanges are usually welded or screwed to the pipe end, then joined with bolts and a gasket between the two mating flanges for sealing.

Hyupshin supplies published-standard flanges and custom flanges by drawing. For buyers, the useful first step is to choose the flange structure below, then open the related standard page for pressure rating, size range, facing and material details.

Slip-On Plate / Flat Flange

A flat ring flange that slips over the pipe and is fillet welded at the pipe end. Historical product data notes that plate slip-on flanges and ring flanges are commonly supplied from 1/2 inch through 80 inch in published standards or customer dimensions.

Slip-On Hubbed / Bossed Flange

A hubbed slip-on flange also slips over the pipe, but the hub gives additional support around the bore. Buyers normally confirm RF or FF facing, bore, pressure rating, material grade and coating requirement.

Weld Neck Flange

A weld neck flange is welded to the pipe neck so stress can transfer from the flange hub to the pipe. It is often selected for higher pressure, larger sizes or more critical service.

Blind / Blank Flange

Blind flanges close pipe ends, valve ends or pressure vessel openings. They are also used for pressure testing and line access, so RF, FF, pressure rating and material must be clear in the RFQ.

Lap Joint Flange

Lap joint flanges are used with stub ends. The flange can rotate around the stub end, which helps bolt-hole alignment and frequent dismantling applications.

Loose / Lapped Flange

Loose or lapped flanges are kept as a separate product type for buyers who need rotation, alignment or backing connection, especially in EN, DIN and UNI loose flange pages.

Threaded / Screwed Flange

Threaded flanges have tapered internal threads and can be attached without welding in suitable service conditions. Confirm ANSI NPT, BSPT or other thread requirement before quotation.

Socket Weld Flange

Socket weld flanges receive the pipe into a socket and are fillet welded around the hub. They are commonly used for smaller high-pressure pipe work where a smooth bore is required.

Backing Ring Flange

Backing rings support pipe joining and waterworks-style connections. Related product data links them with SANS 1123 1000/3, 1600/3, BS T/D and ANSI-style backing ring demand.

RTJ / O-Ring Flange

RTJ and O-ring flange references use a machined sealing groove and should be quoted with standard, pressure rating, ring gasket and facing requirement.

Custom / Special Flange

Special flanges can be quoted by drawing, material, thickness, drilling, facing, coating, inspection document and packing requirement. This keeps the old custom-flange entry visible without mixing it into standard pages.

Hot / Cold / Electro Galvanized Flange

Galvanized flanges are kept as a separate buyer path. Keep coating requirements explicit: hot dipped galvanized, cold galvanized, electro galvanized, anti-rust oil, paint color or project coating spec.
